1. Arnica Catches the Fall!

O.K. maybe I'm exaggerating, but I swear the second my son falls he gets up only to run to the medicine closet for Arnica, gel or tablets, and is instantly feeling consoled by the event of treating his bump. Even big crashes into the wall where his skin starts swelling up faster than he can stop crying, if I apply Arnica topically right away, the next day there is no bruise. I like to use both internally and topically applied Arnica.
How to Use It:
My biggest praise for Arnica is for after childbirth. Yes, I gave birth to a 9 pound 14 ounce child completely naturally, but that doesn't mean I didn't use herbal remedies to support my process. After birth, I used the strongest Arnica on the market, 200X. It reduced my inflammation, and I never had to take over or under (lol) the counter prescriptions. If it can help a woman after birth, it can help more minor injuries, too.
How to Use It:
- For little ones I use the lightest strength, 6X.
- Once my son turned two years old, I started giving him 30X.
- I only give him 2 tablets though.
- For Adults, I use 5 Tablets Under the Tongue.

2. Arnica Gel
As a massage therapist for over ten years, I swear that nothing eases inflammation like topical Arnica Gel.
Sure if I could convince the rare client to do hydrotherapy with a hot water bottle for 20 minutes and cold ice packs for another 20 minutes and repeat, they would get even more results. But most people want quick, painless results that I apply right there and then.

How to Apply:
- Just rub some Arnica Gel on to the injured area.
- Don't apply it to open wounds. Use salve instead.
3. Herbal Salve

For those of you that have read my other posts, you've already heard me boast about herbal salve. Here's my personal story; it's my savior. Honestly, I can't imagine how people heal cuts, burns, and wounds without it. Hibiscus Healing Herbal Salve has Arnica Oil in it, and since I have already told you the benefits of Arnica, I won't elaborate further.
Here's a few ways to use Herbal Salve:
Here's a few ways to use Herbal Salve:
- Carry herbal slave with you because you never know when someone's going to get a cut.
- It's the base of all band-aids; the most soothing healer of all owies for adults and children.
- It's even safe for baby's bottoms, yes, I am talking about diaper rash.
- Herbal Salve is also a great way to carry Essential Oils that are too strong to apply on the skin on their own.
- It's solid texture makes sure the skin doesn't get to oily.
- I have even used salve to give massages; it's that versatile.
4. Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender is my angel. The color and the smell are so soothing that I feel better just looking at it. Again, my son could be crying and a whiff of lavender restores his calm center. It's the safest Essential Oil for babies. It's amazing for so many things.
Here are my favorite ways to use it on myself and my family:
Here are my favorite ways to use it on myself and my family:
- Lavender is an analgesic, which means pain relief. It's the first thing I apply to a burn no matter where it is or how drastic. During my big burn in Ethiopia, it held the pain off entirely because I applied it within the first minute of being burned.
- I use it in the ears to reduce swelling or infection. I rub it on the soles of feet and lymph nodes to fight infection.
- I diffuse it in the air to combat dis-ease of all kinds.
- I put it in the running bath water for calm, healing baths.
- I use it after swim class to neutralize the effects of the chlorine.
- I put it in my hairbrush for a clean feeling.
- I rub it on the pillows for a gentle sleep.
- I use it with lotion before bedtime and nap time.
- You get the point...I use it all day long!
5. Rescue Remedy Flower Essence

If you have never used Flower Essences this is the perfect one to start with because you can't go wrong. Rescue Remedy is a specific blend of five flower essences intended for use in emergencies and trauma. It's designed to help with what's on the surface, rather than an underlying issue. There are many of flower remedies to help move through deeper emotions.
