My Journey into Maya Abdominal Massage
I had been eating dairy as a child despite being lactose intolerant. And like everyone else, I stored all my built up emotions in my gut! Needless to say my abdomen was a mess. After much study at massage school, I discovered I wanted to know more about all the organs and muscles in the abdomen. I also wanted to find techniques to align each organ for optimal health.
My excitement was building to find my specialty in the massage field. I knew I loved working with women and wanted to do more than a basic pregnancy massage. After a small bit of research, I found Rosita Arvigo. I quickly signed up to study with her and off I went on my journey into the abdomen!
I traveled to Belize in the heart of the Mayan Rainforest to find her. She has learned this technique from her personal teachers including Don Elijio Panti and Hortence Robinson to name two of her biggest influences. She took her Western Medical Background of Anatomy and coupled it with their indigenous healing methods. Then, she went on to be the founder of the Arvigo Massage Technique a true reflection of Maya Abdominal Massage.
