No Flavorings, No Paragraph of Ingredients, SimpliciTea

I love a good cup of tea with my family and friends or even alone. It's a quick and effective way to nurture myself. It always seems to cheer everybody else up, too.
What I don't love is all the crazy ingredients they put in tea these days. Even the "organic" brands have a litany of herbs, spices, sweeteners, and the worst of all "Artificial or Natural Flavors." It seems like tea is getting complicated.
As an Herbal Remedy Lover, when I make tea, I go straight to the herb I need and steep it in hot water. If I'm feeling it I add my own sweetener or milk. I certainly don't add flavors, so why would I want to buy them in a box tea? It's so hard to find a pre-made tea that really peaks my fancy. For this reason I wanted to share my favorite tea blend with you, so you can make it at home in your kitchen. Don't settle for a bad cup of tea try this instead:

Three Herbal Remedies - TriniTea

Organic Loose Leaf Rooibos
I imagine you are familiar with Rooibos. This red tea comes from a bush in South Africa. It's traditional a male tea, and Honeybush is the female counterpart. Depending upon your locale, Rooibos is may be easier to get in loose-leaf form.
Why drink Rooibos Tea?
It's caffeine free, which makes it a great tea for pregnant and nursing moms. It's rich in Antioxidants and flavonoids. Rooibos is also Anti-inflamatory. Additional it has phenylpyretic acid, which is good for the skin. It contains the minerals of: magnesium, zinc, calcium, manganese, and iron. Besides all these medicinal properties, Rooibos tastes great both on it's own and as the base for other medicinal teas. I concoct many cups of tea that start with this wonderfully rich tea.
For this blend in particular, I take Organic Loose Leaf Rooibos and do something special with it. You may be able to see it peaking out of the top of the jar in the picture to the right.

Dry Steep in Vanilla Beans

Organic Vanilla Beans
A friend and I were baking a cake with real vanilla from the bean one time, and she said to save the shell and put it in the sugar jar. I thought that was clever. My twist is to put the vanilla bean shells in my jar of loose leaf Rooibos. It gives it the perfect hint of vanilla! Trust me, you will love it because it beats "Natural Vanilla Flavoring" any day.
Here's how to make a dry steep with vanilla beans:
Next time you are baking a sweet treat, add fresh vanilla by carefully slicing open the bean and extracting the inside with the same knife. Then simply put the shell of the bean in a glass jar and pour your loose leaf Rooibos tea on top. Give it a shake and leaf it in your cupboard.

Ginger's Role
Organic Ginger Root (dried or fresh) I find ginger, which is actually a rhizome not a root, quite tasty. If you don't, then just add a little to your tea and definitely use the dried version. If you like it then you probably already make pots of fresh ginger tea. I also love to make a cold, therapeutic ginger drink taught to me by Symptometry. Here's a link to that video if you are interested: Symptometry's Therapeutic Ginger Drink. For this TriniTea recipe I use dried Ginger shown in the picture to the right. Here are some of the medicinal properties of ginger:
