Attitude of Gratitude
This phrase not only sounds catchy, but it feels contagious.
Gratitude is deep form of Self-Care.
A Daily Gratitude Practice helps you shift your thoughts.
This Self-Care Tip reminds you to:
- Start by being grateful for yourself.
- Create a Daily Gratitude Practice in a Journal.
- Commit to Gratitude
- Say Gratitude Affirmations
Love & Gratitude Are the Highest Vibrations of Energy

Perhaps you've heard that love and gratitude are the two highest vibrations. Masaru Emoto offers pictures of frozen ice crystals of love and gratitude to reveal their eminence. These photos shocked the world because the human body is largely made up of water. Clearly, there's an impact on our mind and body when we cultivate these positive energies.
When things are going well many people forget to be grateful. Conversely, when things aren't going well, by nature people find it hard to see what to be thankful for. It's a curious opposition. Why we forget to be thankful doesn't seem as important as reactivating our Attitude of Gratitude. But what happens when we're not feeling it?

1. Start with Self Gratitude

I invite you to go inside with this Self-Care tip. Maybe it's easier to give thanks for others, or things, or situations, but often we forget to thank ourselves. This is a great practice for you then;) We have to start within and set the intention. Find something new to be grateful for about yourself.
Sometimes, Self-Care is as simple and small an act as this: giving thanks for yourself.
Go ahead, give yourself a pat on the back for that fabulous meal you just made! Or hug yourself tonight as you go to bed for living another day! It feels good to give thanks to ourselves.

2. Cultivate a Daily Gratitude Practice

Some friends of mine have a gratitude practice. Others say thank you & maybe send thank you notes, but that's not quite a practice as much as a cultural etiquette. A true practice is an intentional diligence that creates a healthy pattern.
You may be wondering what a gratitude practice could look like?
Some keep a journal of what they are thankful for, others use affirmations of gratitude around their house to keep them in that stream of consciousness, and still others write thank you letters to those they appreciate.
Is an Attitude of Gratitude something you would like to bring into your Self-Care practice?
To get you inspired I offer this book, 365 Thank Yous by John Kralik. It’s one man’s exploration with the act of gratitude in the form of physically writing and sending out thank you notes to people. He starts with sending thank you notes for Christmas presents because most people don't do that. It’s quite refreshing to read such a raw story because his imperfections are softened by his earnest intent to change his behavior. By finding the positive instead of the negative, this man forges a new path for his life - one that revolves around gratitude.
I admire people who commit to such bold acts. I encourage you to find a place where you would like to grow in gratitude.
What’s something that may shift the course of your life for the better if you were more thankful?

3. Commit to Gratitude

Once you have cultivated the desire to find more to be grateful for, you can increase it as a life practice.
I will lead the way and share my commitment with you:
Modeling and instilling the attitude of gratitude in my children. I notice how much my innocent two year-old picks up. This attitude of gratitude is something I want him to embody from his youth. I often hear myself saying to my son, "be thankful for what you have and don't focus on what you don't have." I want to not only have bookends of thanks each day and night, but joyous spurts of thanksgiving! My intention is to show him how to be grateful with even mundane tasks. I call upon myself to gratefully dance and sing praise as I cook, clean, bath, drive, shop, and even pump the gas.
