Do You Want a Luscious Butter for Your Body?
Do you find lotions evaporate too quickly and you are left with dry skin? Do you want to avoid or heal stretch marks? Well, Body Butter is the answer! This recipe is so simple you can make it at home in no time at all. Its simple ingredients will please your skin on every level. It is great for pregnant women who don't want stretch marks. You can leave it unscented or add essential oils of your choice. Here's how to make it! |
Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients
I prefer to use mostly African Shea Butter. If you live near NYC, like I do, it's easy to find it at a local Culture Shop. You can order it online if you can't find it in your area, but give a good search first. This product is best as fresh from the source as possible. Ghana and Burkina Faso have the best Shea Butters. If you get the real deal it's helping local ladies of the region provide for their families. The other ingredient I prefer is Aloe Butter. I put Aloe Vera in all my body care products because it naturally balances the pH of the skin. |
2. Measure Your Ingredients
Using a measuring cup, scoop out:
Pour 1 cup of water into your pot that is the bottom of your double boiler. You need to be able to safely put the bowl in another pot with a full seal. *Keep in mind your climate and the season. In the warmer weather you may want more aloe butter. In colder weather you may want less aloe butter. Experiment and see what works best for you. |
Step 3: Melt Your Solid Ingredients
Step 4: Stick it in the Fridge
|
Step 5: Whip It
At this point the goal is to add texture and air into your body butter. When making lotions, there are enough liquid ingredients that you can use a regular stand up blender. However, when making body butter, you really need the wand immersion blender. (Check it out in this picture.)

Step 6: Scoop It into Your Jars & Add Essential Oils If Desire
If you want each jar to have a different scent, then follow this plan:
